Nintendo has declared November 1 "Pikmin Day" during a Pikmin Day Direct presentation held last weekend. The date honors the three original Pikmin, Red, Blue, and Yellow, whose numbers (11.1) resemble them standing in a line.
During the presentation, Pikmin creator Shigeru Miyamoto explained the choice of date. A new trailer was also shown for Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, which launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12. The edition adds the new Dandori Academy, where players can sharpen their planning and treasure-collecting skills in timed challenges and weekend exams to earn in-game medals.
Nintendo also announced that a free demo of the game, featuring the Sun-Speckled Terrace opening area and two Dandori Academy stages, will be available on the Nintendo eShop.
The Pikmin Bloom app will receive an update this winter with a new adventure in which users explore caves and face creatures to collect treasure. Players can also link the app with Pikmin 4 to take on in-game exams and earn in-app rewards, including a cave map.
Finally, two episodes of "Hello! Pikmin," a new short film series produced by Nintendo Pictures, are now available on the Nintendo Today! App and other Nintendo channels.
