  • DGJP employees and their families can apply for undergraduate and graduate government scholarships.
  • It includes training in the fourth industrial revolution and artificial intelligence.

The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt) and the General Directorate of Pensions for the State (DGJP) signed a framework cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the skills of public sector staff.

The agreement was signed by Mescyt Minister Rafael Santos Badía and DGJP Director General Juan Rosa. It sets out a general framework for promoting and sharing national and international scholarship calls among DGJP employees.

According to Santos Badía, the pact allows DGJP staff and their families to access government scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies. It also includes training programs focused on the fourth industrial revolution and the use of artificial intelligence tools, with the goal of improving employees' technological skills.

Juan Rosa said the agreement broadens professional opportunities for staff and helps build a more prepared and efficient public administration. He noted that the quality of service to citizens depends largely on employee training.

The official clarified that the agreement establishes the cooperation framework, but each interested person must apply to the public calls issued by Mescyt and meet the academic, documentary and administrative requirements.

The signing took place at Mescyt's headquarters. Attending for the ministry were Vice Minister of Administration Otto Vargas, Cabinet Director Ramón Sánchez and Legal Director Carla Esquea. For the DGJP, officials including María Asunción Fadón, Santiago Guillermo, Santa Ortiz, Brixeida Arias and Laury Magallanes took part.

Why it matters

For public employees in the Dominican Republic, and their relatives, this could mean access to scholarships and tech training, provided they meet the requirements of each call.
