The National Health Service has put border hospitals and Santo Domingo centers on alert over the tense situation at the border.
Key points
- The SNS activated response protocols at border-area hospitals and other Public Network centers.
- Teams include surgeons, orthopedists, intensivists and anesthesiologists, plus intensive care units.
- Hospital helipads are linked with the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to transfer patients.
The Dominican National Health Service (SNS, by its Spanish acronym) has activated response protocols and readied medical teams at hospitals in the border zone, as well as at other Public Network centers, in case of any emergency arising from the tense situation at the border.
The measure includes multidisciplinary teams made up of surgeons, orthopedists, intensivists and anesthesiologists, along with intensive care units. According to the institution, the goal is to ensure timely care for anyone who needs emergency assistance.
The SNS has also kept its hospital helipad network connected with the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so that the transfer and reception of patients who need specialized care can be coordinated immediately, in case of any emergency related to the situation in Haiti.
The strategic centers included in the plan are the Luis Eduardo Aybar Health City, the Dr. Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital, the Prof. Juan Bosch Traumatology and Surgical Hospital, the Dr. Pedro Emilio de Marchena Provincial Hospital and the Dr. Ángel Contreras Provincial Hospital.
With these measures, the institution aims to guarantee an organized and timely healthcare response to any emergency.
