  • Year Two of the game begins today, according to PlayStation.Blog.
  • It includes Duel Mode, a one-on-one competition format.
  • It adds the Super Slot, a dedicated slot for Gadgets with enhanced effects.
  • The Sega Consoles Pack adds three vehicles inspired by Sega consoles.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds' second year begins today, according to PlayStation.Blog, with more racers, vehicles and courses for a game universe that keeps growing.

The new year brings several additions designed to make playing with friends more engaging and to deepen the experience. One is Duel Mode, a format different from the standard 12-player races, focused on one-on-one strategy. According to the development team, by letting players focus on their distance from the rival and how they use items, races can unfold in very different ways.

Year Two also brings new Gadgets and the Super Slot, a dedicated slot for one-slot Gadgets. A Gadget placed there gets enhanced effects, opening more combinations and strategies for each player.

The Sega Consoles Pack adds three vehicles inspired by the company's historic hardware. According to the development team, the designers kept colors, shapes and button layouts that players will recognize from each console. For the Dreamcast, they recreated the Visual Memory Unit (VMU) using original reference data from the era. The Dreamcast's rounded forms and the angular silhouettes of the Genesis and Sega Saturn were translated into fenders, noses and body panels, adding the speed expected from a racing machine.

This pack first appeared online as an April Fool's joke, and attentive fans spotted it. It is now an official part of the game, offered as an exclusive bonus in the Digital Deluxe Edition and Season Pass Two.
