Santo Domingo will host the 16th Ordinary Summit of the Community of American Police (Ameripol), gathering police directors and top authorities from Latin America and the Caribbean on November 11 and 12. The meeting will focus on cooperation between police agencies to confront transnational organized crime and other criminal activity.

The summit's theme is "Regional response to threats that destabilize the internal security of States." The agenda includes exchanging experiences, information and best practices, and discussing joint strategies to address the security challenges facing member countries. Members of the Ameripol Council of Police Directors will take part, along with representatives of international organizations and entities linked to regional security.

The event was announced by the National Police during a meeting led by its director general, Major General Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García, together with Deputy Director General Esteban Figuereo García and Deputy Minister of Internal Security of the Ministry of Interior and Police, Edwin Eusebio Féliz Brito, who attended on behalf of Minister Faride Raful. Inspector General Martín Tapia Sánchez and other members of the General Staff also took part.

At that meeting, organizational, operational and logistical aspects of the event were coordinated, and responsibilities were assigned to officers and units in charge of preparations.
