The U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic has announced the launch of "Train, Eat and Repeat," a campaign that promotes the consumption of American beef and pork as part of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle.

The initiative was developed by the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA/FAS), in collaboration with the U.S. Meat Export Federation (Usmef) and Orangetheory Fitness. The launch brought together members of the embassy community and fans of exercise and gastronomy in Arroyo Hondo, Santo Domingo.

The event combined nutritional guidance, physical training and tastings of American products. Professional nutritionist Andrea Rivera gave a workshop on the role of protein in physical performance and muscle recovery. Ambassador Leah F. Campos also joined attendees in a special training session at Orangetheory Fitness.

Attendees also enjoyed "Meat Extravaganza," a culinary experience organized by The Butcher Shop, featuring tastings and demonstrations of how to prepare different American cuts of meat.

According to a press release, the launch marks the start of an Orangetheory Fitness training challenge that will run during November, accompanied by nutrition workshops. At the end of the challenge, 30 winners will take part in a barbecue experience organized by the Embassy and Usmef, where they will learn new techniques for preparing American meat from Usmef's regional chefs.

The campaign is linked to "Make America Healthy Again," a U.S. Government initiative that promotes good nutrition and physical activity, and to the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Why it matters

The campaign aims to raise awareness of U.S. agricultural products in the Dominican market, which could influence the meat supply available in the country.
