The Ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived), in collaboration with Spain's Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI), presented the program "Mi Vivienda Segura: Aprende a invertir en tu hogar en RD" in Madrid. The initiative was launched during Dominican Week in Madrid and is aimed at Dominicans living in Europe.

The goal is to give those who want to buy a home from abroad more tools to protect their savings. The training covers savings planning, repayment capacity, financing options, document verification, and risk prevention in real estate transactions.

During the launch, Housing Minister Jean Luis Rodríguez said that for many Dominicans abroad, a home in the country is much more than an investment. "It is a way of continuing to build a future in their country," he said.

According to the minister, the program helps participants assess their financial situation, understand the commitments of a purchase, and identify warning signs before committing their savings. It also encourages checking the conditions of projects and seeking specialized advice when needed, without recommending specific developments.

"This program was not created to tell you which home to buy. It was created so you have better tools to decide how, when, and under what conditions to do it," the minister said.

Rodríguez added that the training aims to reduce the uncertainty faced by those who want to buy property from abroad and need reliable information.

Why it matters

If you live in Europe or elsewhere abroad and plan to buy property in the Dominican Republic, this program aims to give you tools to avoid risks before investing your savings.
