Dominican Ambassador to France David Puig announced that artists Laura Castro and George Heisen Molina were selected for the "República Dominicana x Cité" artist residency program. The cultural cooperation initiative is sponsored by Banco de Reservas.

The artists will work at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, with three-month residencies between January and June 2027. There, they will be able to develop their creative projects in an environment of research, experimentation, and collaboration with artists and professionals from other countries.

According to the ambassador, both are contemporary artists with an outstanding track record. The selected artists thanked the opportunity, stressed the importance of connecting with the Parisian art ecosystem, and valued access to archives and resources from French cultural institutions.

The call received 44 applications between June and August 2026. The evaluation was carried out by representatives of the Dominican Embassy in France, the Banreservas Cultural Center, the Cité internationale des arts, and independent French art curators.

The announcement was made during Dominican Week in France 2026. Attending the event were Culture Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo and Cité internationale des arts director Bénédicte Alliot.

The program aims to strengthen the presence of Dominican contemporary art on the international stage, foster cultural exchange, and open new professional development opportunities for national creators.
