Key points
- Includes New Game+, unlocked after completing the Holy Day Quest.
- Adds the Mithril resource and raises the maximum gear upgrade level from 13 to 27.
- A new Stash system in Ravensthorpe lets players store gear and runes.
- Extended Progression Mode makes gear, runes and masteries count toward your overall power.
The "Most Requested Update" for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam. The free update brings several features players have been asking for.
The main addition is New Game+, which lets you replay the full adventure with your progress carried over. To unlock it, you must complete the Holy Day Quest, the final quest in the Hamtunscire region. Each time you use it, the game gets harder.
In New Game+, receiving a piece of gear or interacting with a book of knowledge you already own rewards you with Mithril, a new resource. Mithril can also be bought in the Nilfheim, Mastery and River Raid shops. Looting Carbon, Nickel and Tungsten from a Wealth Chest now gives a Platinum ingot, and gear can be upgraded to Divine quality without the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion.
The update also adds an optional Extended Progression Mode, in which gear, runes and masteries contribute to your overall power score. A new Stash in Ravensthorpe helps organize gear and runes. The Rune Forge lets players upgrade runes with silver up to the Superior tier, which requires Mithril. Finally, more than 300 engravable runes have been added.
Why it matters
It's a free update for players who already own the game on PlayStation, Xbox or PC, with no need to buy the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion.
