Raphy D'Oleo is returning to radio with "Panorama Navideño," a show that premieres this Friday, November 6, at 8:00 p.m. On Grupo Panorama stations. The program will reach the whole country with a lineup centered on music and Dominican Christmas traditions.
The veteran broadcaster and artistic producer, who has more than five decades in communications, will direct and host the show. In a conversation with El Nacional, he said the project is one he has been pursuing for years. He explained that for five years he ran the same program on his virtual station, Cangrejord.com, and spent four years trying to get an FM slot before succeeding on the fifth attempt thanks to his brother Miguel Medina, owner of Grupo Panorama.
D'Oleo, who is 70, said he feels especially happy about this new stage, since he sees radio as much more than a profession: it is his vocation. He highlighted the platform's national reach, with stations in the South, East and Cibao, which he believes will allow the show to reach a much wider audience.
The show will air on Panorama 96.9 FM in Santo Domingo, 89.1 FM in Santiago and the Cibao, 91.7 FM in the South region and 96.9 FM in the East region. Its format aims to cut down on talk and prioritize music, in response to listeners' changing habits.
According to D'Oleo, radio has changed deeply, especially in music programming, where the on-air host has lost ground to talk shows and digital platforms. "Hablando menos y entreteniendo más" ("Talking less, entertaining more") is the guiding principle of his proposal, with current hits alongside songs that are not seasonal but evoke Christmas and celebration.
